First Communion Masses at St. Matthew

Twenty children from the Faith Formation program and Community of Saints Catholic School will be celebrating their First Communions in May. Some children are making their First Communion at a 2 PM Mass on Saturday, May 14. Others are making their First Communion at the 10:15 AM Mass on Sunday, May 15. Another group of children are making their First Communion at the 10:15 AM Mass on Sunday, May 22. Please keep these children and their families in your prayers as they enter the last weeks of preparation to receive the Lord in Eucharist.

Thank you, Faith Formation volunteers

The Church of St Matthew is grateful to the volunteer catechists who have taught public school children in our Wednesday evening Faith Formation and sacramental preparation program during the 2021-2022 school year. Thanks to catechists Valerie Gerlich, Autumn Koch, Catherine Luiken, Ava Scanlon, and Dave Sonday. Thanks for Faith Formation director Janelle Rohr. Thanks to front desk

person Kathleen Thompson. Thanks to those who subbed in the program, those who helped with the extra tasks that came up, and thanks to translator Myrna Beltran. Faith Formation will resume in September and may need volunteers. at that time. Please keep this volunteer  opportunity in mind.

Summer Break for Faith Formation

Our Wednesday evening Faith Formation classes have ended for the 2021-2022 school year, and we wish all our students the best these last few weeks of their school year and wish them a healthy and fun summer.  Faith Formation classes will resume in late September 2022, with registration starting in August. These weekly classes are for public school students in grades 1 to 10. Classes help prepare students for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion (grades 2 and above) and Confirmation (grades 8 and above). Community of Saints students who would like to receive sacraments through St Matthew can register at the school’s parent paperwork evening in August.

– Janelle Rohr, St. Matthew Faith Formation director
