Men’s Club News April 2018

Next Men’s Club meeting: Wednesday, April 11th, at 7:30 pm

Menu – Chili

Don’t Miss Event

Jim Jenniges’s son Paul was diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer. There will be a taco feed and silent auction fund raiser for Paul on Sunday April 29th from 1pm to 5pm, Dunham’s Bar 173 Lothenbach Ave, West St Paul.

Blazing Forward: 50th Anniversary of 1968 Church Fire, April 15, 2018

The event begins with the 10:00 Mass celebration on Sunday, April 15, with Fr. Steve Adrian presiding. A full brunch follows in the Social Hall and will include a birthday cake for Fr. Steve’s 76th birthday. There will be pictures and remembering’s of the fire that destroyed our church in 1968, as well as general parish memorabilia. Note that there will also be an informal showing of memorabilia with light snacks, refreshments and live background music on Saturday evening, April 14, from 5 to 7 pm in the Social Hall (for those who can’t make it Sunday).  Free admission.

Fish Fry’s

One more year of fish fries on the books, thanks to all who helped make it a success!

Sick and Vigil

Bob Nowak seems to back on the road to recovery. He stopped at the last fish fry, played some 6-5-4 and was clipping along at a pretty good pace with his walker. Things are finally looking up for him.

Ray Marschall’s sister Esther passed away in February and Mike Bauer’s brother Greg passed away in March.

Please keep the Nowak, Bauer, Marshall families and all club members in your prayers.

Upcoming Service Requests

We have a request to donate pop, ice and provide a server at an event for all graduates of St. Matt’s, St. Michael’s, St. John Vianney and Our Lady of Guadalupe, celebrating 25 (1993), 50 (1968), 60 (1958), 70 (1948) & 75 (1943) on Sunday May 20th. We will discuss this at the meeting.

Meat Raffles

Raffles continue to bring a consistent flow of funds to the club, we can always use help. Tim will pass around a sign-up sheet at the meeting.

Other News

Tom Kegler donated a nice TV for behind the bar, has done a lot of handy work around the social hall and has stepped up helping at events. He has been a great addition to our club!

OTHER NEWS and UPCOMING EVENTS

  • 2018 yearly dues are due, the same low price of $15.00 per year
  • Celebrate West St Paul Days, Saturday May 19th. We will have a food stand at the event again this year.
