Next Men’s Club meeting, Wednesday, October 11. Menu: Fall fest leftovers

Elections

We will be holding elections at the October meeting.

Fall Fest

St Matthew’s annual fall fest will be held on Saturday October 7 and Sunday October 8. The Men’s Club will be grilling, serving beverages at the bar, running bingo and paddle wheel. Bingo will start right after the 4 pm mass. We will be looking for help both days. Please volunteer if you are available.

Catholic Order of Foresters Octoberfest Dinner

The COF will be having their annual Octoberfest dinner at St Bernard’s social hall on Thursday, Oct 19. The social starts at 6:00 with dinner served at 6:30. As before, it is a free will offering for the dinner and bring clothing items of socks, mittens and hats for the benefit of St Joseph’s Children’s Home.

Reservations are required. If interested contact Larry Poppler.

Catholic Order of Foresters Matching Grant Dinner

The COF is doing a matching grant dinner on November 11th. We discussed donating $1000.00 that is turned into $2000.00. We did it at another event last year and the board thinks we should do that once again for this event. It is an easy way to double our contribution. We will discuss it further at the meeting.

Sick and Vigil

Steve (Stahl) Smith passed away unexpectedly. You would know Stahl if you played cards, he played cribbage with the other members, helped at fish fry’s and was always at most of our events. His memorial service is this Friday at the Fort Snelling Chapel, his obituary is in today’s paper.

Bob Nowak is making some good improvements but has a long road ahead. He is at Bethesda transition facility. Some the guys went and saw Bob and said he is good considering what he has gone through.

Please keep Stahl, Bob and their families in your prayers.

OTHER NEWS and UPCOMING EVENTS

  • Turkey Bingo – November 4
  • Manger set-up Saturday, December 16, and manger take-down Saturday, January 13th.
  • Yearly dues are due January 2018. The same low price of $15.00 per year
  • Fish Fries – Friday February 16 to Friday March 30, 2018

See you October 11!
