Men’s Club Newsletter, September 2017

Published September 9, 2017

The next Men’s Club Meeting will be Wednesday, September 13, at 8 pm in the social hall. Menu: cold cuts, chips, etc.

Help Needed September 16th

Sister Anne needs help moving items from a classroom to the basement at the parish center on Saturday September 16th from 9am to 11am. She would appreciate the help!

West St. Paul Family Fun Day

The city of West St. Paul will be holding family fun day and touch a truck at Harmon Park on September 30th from 3pm to 9pm, with fireworks at 9pm. The men’s club will have a food booth from 3pm to 7pm, Tim will discuss at meeting.

Fall Fest

St Matthews annual Oktoberfest will be held on Saturday October 7th and Sunday October 8th. The Men’s Club will be grilling, serving beverages at the bar, running bingo and paddlewheel. Bingo will start right after the 4pm mass. We will be looking for help both days so please volunteer if you are available, we will discuss at the meeting.

Dean made a recommendation the Men’s Club picks up the cost of the gambling and beer license for the fall fest. The board seemed to favor the idea. We will discuss.

Church Projects

Father stopped at the board meeting to talk about some projects he needs us to help with and update us on church fund raising efforts. He asked for our help taking down the tables and chairs in the social hall so the floors can be stripped and waxed. He needs help going through the back room behind the sound system next to our room to see what can get tossed. He talked about the fund raising for the windows. The strawberry cleaning and the COF matching funds will knock a big chunk out of the bill plus there have been generous donations. He talked about funding the kitchen cleaning. He asked if we could pick up a portion and who should share in the cost. He also wants us to check into the social hall lighting, I am going to do some research on rebates. If anyone has electrical experience with changing fluorescent lights over to LED let me know.

Sick and Vigil

Doc Helsper is getting a knee replacement this week, please keep him in your prayers.
