Oktoberfest Update – 3 Weeks Away!

Oktoberfest: October 7-8

Three weeks and counting! Here’s a recap of what is happening at the festival:

Saturday – Bingo – 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Tacos, pizza, hot ham sandwiches, pie, and the bakery booth are open from 5:00 to 9:00.

Booths that will open at 3:00 to 9:00 include Silent Auction, Bakery, Jewelry, Attic Treasures/Holiday items. No children’s games will be open until Sunday.

Sunday – All booths and the kids games will be open at 11:00 to 4:00 p.m. We also will have our third annual “Matt’s Hoopfest” (basketball tournament 2 on 2) in the school gym that starts at 11:00 a.m.

Food – From 11:15 to 1:15, we will be offering a self-service meal of chicken, mashed potatoes and vegetable. You will go through the line and find your own seating. It is not being served as a sit down dinner with people waiting on you. But it is being cooked by Steve and Josie Mike who previously owned Wabasha Deli. We’ll also have tacos, burgers and brats available at the same time.

Signs are available at the back of the church this weekend. Please sign up to take one so we know where they will be. With all the construction going on, we need to make sure we are hitting the most visible areas.

Volunteers – We still need your help to work at the festival. It is fun and rewarding – meet new people. Sign up sheets at the back of church. Please consider giving an hour or two. We’re still looking for a chair or co-chairs for the Holiday/Grandma’s Treasures booth. We have strong men willing to carry and set up and work it but they said it would be helpful to have someone or two people who like garage sales to be in charge to help price, etc.

Donations – Remember that all the proceeds go to pay for the windows and other repairs we need on our campus. Thank you for what you have already contributed.

Silent Auction – We need new items (gift cards-buy at the back of church), gift certificates like Target or your favorite store, collectibles, or if you can offer your services like baking, raking, cleaning, sewing, or a hobby you have of making an item. We appreciate everything.

For kid’s games, we need prizes, cup cakes or decorated cookies that kids will like.

Root Beer Floats – Any type of pop -people like options beyond Root Beer. Watch the sales. We’ll need ice cream that weekend for the floats and the pie booth.

Bakery and Pie Booth – Baked goods, pies (baked or bought), fudge, candy, canned vegetables, home made salsa, jellies.

Bingo Donations – A few years ago we asked people if they were willing to sponsor a game of bingo in honor or memory of a loved one. We are going to do that again and your name and the person you are honoring would be mentioned at one of the games. We are looking for a $25.00 contribution to sponsor bingo.

Please include your donation in an envelope and hand it in with the collection next weekend.
