PARISH FINANCES
I’ve been promising to provide more financial reporting for a few months. Here’s a start, based on our monthly financial reports from our accountant at PASC (Parish Accounting Service Center).
Total April contributions were $40,646.56. That’s well over our monthly budget projection of $20,133.33, largely because of Easter season contributions. Compare those results* with the other months since the beginning of the calendar year, January 1:
Month | Contributions ($) | Budgeted ($)** |
April 2022 | 40,646.56 | 20,133.33 |
March | 27,588.68 | 20,133.33 |
February | 15,218.52 | 20,133.33 |
January | 23,065.73 | 20,133.33 |
As you can see, giving fluctuates a lot from month to month. Christmas and Easter boost results. By contrast, summer often reduces revenue. Last July, for example, contributions totaled $17,586.85.
Our overall picture is clear, however: your continued generous support of St. Matt’s means we’re on track to finish the year in the black. Thank you!
*Technical note 1: these contribution totals include amounts from weekend and holyday collections, whether by envelope or in cash. They also include Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) and PayPal. I’ll have more to say about EFTs and PayPal in a future bulletin.
**Technical note 2: when we prepare each year’s budget, we make conservative projections for all sources of revenue.
If ever you have questions about parish finances, please let me know. You can also talk to any member of our Finance Council. Also, our monthly meetings are open, should you wish to attend. Our next meeting is Thursday, June 30 at 4:30 PM in the Parish Center.
Again, thank you for your generosity!
