CAPITAL NEEDS UPDATE
Here’s very good news: we’ve raised $55,065 thus far this fiscal year (July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023). By far, the majority of contributions came since the beginning of Lent.
Many thanks to all contributors! That $55K is just what we needed for the 50% deposit on replacing our main electric panel.
Looking ahead, we already have pledges for additional thousands of dollars. Some of those pledges are for specific one-time donations; others are for steady monthly giving through an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Both methods work well. Let me know if you’d like more information about EFTs or making a pledge.
SECURITY CAMERAS
We’ve talked to two companies so far. There are two more on the list, after which we’ll make a decision. At this point, it looks like we’ll start with the church building. Thanks to last November’s Giving Thanks fundraiser, we already have $14,000 set aside for cameras. (That money is in an account separate from the $55K raised for the electric panel.) That’s approximately what we need to put a camera system in one building.
LINE OF CREDIT
In addition to the electric panel and cameras, we’re planning to replace the school’s flat roof. That’s a $220,000 job this summer. There are also significant other projects, such as an estimated $25,000 for work on the school building’s heating system.
To make sure we can complete all planned work this year, we’ve taken out a Line of Credit (LOC) from Catholic Finance Corporation. The maximum draw is $500,000. That’s more than we need, but it’s good to have the LOC in place in case of emergency.
STUDY GROUPS: COMMONWEAL, BIBLE
Several parishioners have expressed interest in forming a group to discuss articles found in Commonweal magazine. Let the office know if you’d like to join the group. All are welcome.
I’m also aware of interest in a Bible study group. Same deal: let the office know, so we can help organize things. Resources are available.
Thank you for your support, and have a great week!
