APBA, etc.
There are several ways St. Matt’s stays connected to the larger church of which we’re a part, i.e., the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
For example, we’ve been participating as a parish in the current synod process—the next step being next weekend, June 3-5. More on that in next week’s bulletin.
For my part, I meet regularly with my administrator colleagues—sometimes online, sometimes for breakfast. Back on May 19, I traveled to St. Gerard Majella in Brooklyn Park, for an APBA meeting and lunch. (APBA = Association of Parish Business Administrators)
I find these meetings useful, as I always learn things helpful to me and St. Matt’s. At the May 19 meeting, for example, I enjoyed a presentation by members of the Association of Liturgical Ministers (ALM). There were also reports from APBA members who serve as liaisons for other archdiocesan-level organizations, such as the insurance board, Catholic Services Appeal, and the Catholic Community Foundation.
Most of our APBA meetings this past year have been on Zoom, so it was good to see people in person. I was reminded of how many wonderful laborers we have in the larger vineyard of our church.
