QSA Update
I’m pleased to report that Quantum STEAM Academy (QSA), the charter public school leasing our school building, has increased its enrollment yet again. Classes began August 29, and I recently visited the school to talk with its director and teachers.
Now heading into its third year, QSA expects over one hundred students for the 2022-2023 school year. This compares with about 60 students in their first year, and about 90 last year.
This growth is good news for QSA, of course. I believe it’s a credit to their leadership, teachers, and curriculum. (STEAM = Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).
It’s also good news for us, as their rent money is what we’re using to pay off our 2016 loan. You might recall that that loan was used to pay for an elevator in the school building, as well as to update the boilers.
I used to be a school administrator and teacher, so I’m glad to see children learning in our school building. It’s a great use of our facilities.
HOW’S YOUR PRAYER LIFE?
I wrote about prayer last week—especially the collective form known as the Prayers of the Faithful. They’re one of many ways we offer support to each other.
It’s unwieldy to read up to 15 names at Mass, so I encourage those looking for prayer support to use the Book of Intentions at the back of church. The Prayers of the Faithful include all names listed in the Book of Intentions.
We plan to move names from the Prayers of the Faithful to the bulletin after a month or so, unless we hear otherwise from the persons concerned. There’s no limit to the number of names we can put in the bulletin.
Let me know if you have any questions. Have a great week!
