WELCOME, CRISTINA!
In last week’s bulletin, we announced the October retirement of Jill Kilzer, our long-time director of music and liturgy. Thank you, Jill, for your many years of service!
This week, I’m happy to announce that we are hiring Cristina Czaia as our new director of music and liturgy. She’ll begin work in September, thus overlapping with Jill for a few weeks. Their work together will greatly help the transition.
It’s likely that many of you know Cristina by sight and voice, as she’s been a regular cantor at St. Matt’s for years now. What you might not know is her many other qualifications. They include a Master’s degree in Vocal Arts from the University of Southern California, music ministry leadership positions in multiple parish and school settings, and over twenty years of experience as a cantor. She’s also studied theology, liturgy and conducting.
In sum, Cristina’s well qualified to serve us whenever we gather for liturgy. We’ve been in good hands with Jill. We will be in good hands with Cristina.
Welcome to the staff, Cristina Czaia!
YOUTH MINISTRY
Speaking of ministry and staffing—we’re looking for a youth minister to serve our parish and St. Stan’s. In St. Stan’s case, they’re renewing a successful youth ministry program. In our case, we’re going to build our capacity to serve teens and young adults. For more information, feel free to email or talk to me. I’m not only helping to recruit and interview candidates in partnership with St. Stan’s; I’m looking for youth group members and for adults interested in helping with this ministry.
BOOK MINISTRY
In other words, a librarian here at St. Matt’s. I’m looking for one or more volunteers to manage books going onto our library shelves: helping people select books to read, checking books in and out, and keeping the shelves tidy. We already have books. Shelves are being donated.
Thank you for your support, and have a great week!
