For several years, members of our parish would gather in St. Matt’s Social Hall to clean strawberries for the owner of a booth at the State Fair. We would begin the day before the fair opened and our last day would be the Sunday before Labor Day. Some came every day, some just weekends and others came whenever they could. It was fun and profitable! In past years we have earned over $5000 for a few hours work each day. The more who volunteer the faster the job is completed each day.
Our friends from the Strawberry Booth have contacted us and have asked us to again take charge of cleaning the strawberries! We will begin cleaning the berries at 8am Wed. Aug. 24th and clean every day through Sun Sept 4th. You are invited to help any day/days that fit your schedule. If you would like to help our parish earn some needed income, please email me at . You may also call the Parish Center and leave your name and phone number or email address with the receptionist or on the answering machine. Or, just come to the Social Hall any morning from Wed 8/24 – Sun 9/4 at 8am!
Thank you to the 35 people who have expressed a willingness to volunteer!
