Volunteer Opportunities and Parish Needs, 3-8-2020

Published March 6, 2020

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”  Isaiah 6:8

We need volunteers to continue the work of serving our parish and community. Currently we have 4 continuing opportunities.

FISH FRY

Our Lenten Fish Fry has begun! Perhaps rather than giving something up for Lent, you would rather be of service to others. The Fish Fry welcomes volunteers for many opportunities. They need volunteers to help in the kitchen, serve meals, clean tables and help with “Drive-Up orders. If interested, you can call the Parish Center and leave your name. Walk in volunteers are always welcome!

MUSIC MINISTRY

In need of Choir members, Cantors & Instrumentalists. The choir sings for Sunday 10:15AM mass and practices on alternate weeks Sept-May. Our next practice will be at 9:15am Mar 15th.  We will be practicing every Sunday from now through Easter.  Cantors and instrumentalists are needed for both weekend masses.

Come be a part of the music at St. Matthews during Holy Week and the Easter Season!

In need of Choir members, Cantors and Instrumentalists. Be part of the music liturgy for Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday & Easter Sunday. Take part in any or all the services. Whatever fits your schedule. For more information you may email Jill Kilzer at . or speak to her after one of the weekend masses.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY

Our Liturgy of the Word sessions for young children during the Sunday 10:15am Mass continue into May, and we need helpers for Sunday Masses in March, April and May. Can you be a helper once a month during that time? You would assist the teacher with children ages 3 to 8, helping the kids find their place in a booklet, helping with crafts, etc. If yes, contact Janelle Rohr via email at

I invite anyone who could help with these volunteer opportunities to contact me through the parish office or email me at

THANK YOU!

We are a Volunteer Parish!!  The future of our parish depends on our dedicated volunteers.

The first Fish Fry of 2020 was a HUGE success! 522 meals were served!! This includes the Drive-up orders and those taken to Cerenity. Thank You to those who come before noon to begin the preparations. To those who cook the meals and plate the food, Thank You!  To the students and parents from Community of Saints School who served the guests and cleaned the tables Thank You!  To the members of the Men’s Club who operate the bar, Thank You! To those who wash the dishes and clean-up the Social Hall, Thank You! To all who come with family and friends to enjoy a fantastic meal and enjoyable fellowship, Thank You!   All of you are contributing to the success of the 2020  St. Matthew Fish Fry! THANK YOU ALL!!

Thank You to Anthony Minus & Jeanne Maanum who led Stations of the Cross for the First Week of Lent and to Richard Schletty & Jack Heitzinger for serving as Cantor and Instrumentalist!
