STRAWBERRY CLEANING For several years, members of our parish would gather to clean strawberries for the owner of a booth at the State Fair. We would begin the day before the fair opened and our last day would be the Sunday before Labor Day. Some came every day, some just weekends, and others came whenever they could. It was fun and profitable! Last year COVID-19 brought this experience to an end. The State Fair Org has announced that there will be a 12-day fair this year! Our friends from the Strawberry Booth have informed us that they will have the Strawberry & Cream booth at the fair this year! In past years we have earned over $5000 for a few hours of work each day. The more who volunteer the faster the job is completed each day. We will begin cleaning strawberries at 8 am Wed. Aug. 25th and every morning through Sunday, Sept 5th.
If you would like to help our parish earn some needed income, sign-up sheets are on the table in the back of the church. You may also email me at . Or call the Parish Center and leave your name and phone number or email address, with the receptionist or on the answering machine. We would like to know approx. how many people may be available to help. The work is easy, and the socializing is fun! Come and join us for “The Great St. Matthews Get-Together”!
