VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES & PARISH NEEDS

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”  Isaiah 6:8

COMMUNION TO HOMEBOUND: Do you have family, neighbors, or friends who are unable to attend mass? If you would like to take communion to them in their homes, call the Parish Center or see a Sacristan before mass. If you do not have a pyx one will be provided.

FIRST EUCHARIST TEACHERS & HELPER: Need a volunteer to be First Eucharist Teacher for children in grades 2 & 3, as well as a volunteer to serve as a helper. Classes are taught on Wed evenings from late Sept into May.  We Will also likely need a volunteer Lead First Eucharist teacher for students in grades 6 – 10. That commitment will likely start in Nov. and end in March. If interested in one of these roles, please contact Faith Formation Dir. Janelle Rohr for details. Email or call 651-242-6004.

MUSICIANS St Matthews Music Ministry is looking for more singers, cantors, guitarists, keyboardists, string players, wind instrument players. Contact Jill Kilzer Director of music and Liturgy .

STRAWBERRY CLEANING: Our friends from the Strawberry Booth have informed us that they will have the Strawberry & Cream booth at the fair this year! In past years we have earned over $5000 for a few hours of work each day. The more who volunteer the faster the job is completed each day. We will begin cleaning strawberries at 8 a.m. Wed. Aug. 25th and every morning through Sunday, Sept 5th. If you would like to help our parish earn some needed income, sign-up sheets are on the table in the back of the church. You may also email me at . Or call the Parish Center and leave your name and phone number or email address, with the receptionist or on the answering machine. We would like to know approx. how many people may be available to help. The work is easy, and the socializing is fun! Come and join us for “The Great St. Matthews Get-Together”!

SOUND SYSTEM Looking for a volunteer to operate the Sound System at the Mass in the Park. The mass will take place Sunday, Aug 15th, 10:15 at Cherokee Park. If you can help with this request, email or call the Parish Center.

THANK YOU: To the 95 parishioners who attended the in-person mass last Sat. Thank You to Fr. Feder from St. John’s Priory who celebrated mass while Fr. Steve enjoys a restful vacation. To Karen who handled the opening announcements. To our Pianist Jill & Cantor Kathy. Lectors Ellen & Joanne, Eucharistic Ministers Kathy, Ann & Tim.  Ushers Tom & Tim. Server Paul, and Sacristans Mary & Ginny. Thank you to Alan, who through his talent films our masses, making it possible for many of our parishioners to take part online.

THANK YOU: to Ann, Ginny, Tim, John, & Paul who took the Eucharist from mass to their family members and friends!

THANK YOU: to Katie who has volunteered to help clean the church during the week.

THANK YOU: to the 47parishioners who have already volunteered to help with the strawberry cleaning! There is still plenty of room in the Social Hall for more help.
