Volunteer Opportunities and Parish Needs for the week of 12-19-2021

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES & PARISH NEEDS

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”  Isaiah 6:8

MONEY COUNTERS:  We are looking for volunteers to serve as Money Counters for weekly collections. Time commitment would be 2 Sundays each month. (3 Sundays in months with 5 weekends.) You will work on teams of 3 – 4 people. Collection will be counted on Sunday mornings immediately after the last mass. Ideally, we would like people from both Sat & Sun masses to volunteer. On weeks when a Holy Day takes place, that collection too will be counted on the following Sunday. A few people have already volunteered. We would like at least 1 more person to volunteer so we could have 2 teams of 4 people each! If you can’t commit to a regular schedule but would be willing to serve as a substitute occasionally, you are needed too. If you like working with numbers and feel you can contribute to this valuable service, contact Mary at or call the Parish Center, leave your name & phone # and someone will return your call!

MUSICIANS NEEDED: St Matthews Music Ministry is looking for more singers, cantors, guitarists, keyboardists, string players, & wind instrument players for the Christmas season & for weekend masses. Contact Jill Kilzer Director of music and Liturgy  .

GREETERS: St. Matthews seeks additional “Greeters”, for both Sat. & Sun. masses, to extend a warm welcome to those arriving for Mass. Your friendly smile and enthusiasm for the Church of St. Matthew are all that is needed. To help, contact: , or the parish office.

CHRISTMAS DECORATING: Mark your calendars!! Decorating the Sanctuary for the Christmas season will take place Dec. 19th immediately after the 10:15am mass. The more volunteers we have, the sooner we will complete the decorating. If you attend Sat. mass, consider returning on Sunday to help bring statues from the chapel, place Christmas trees in the sanctuary and put the decorations on the trees.  We would appreciate any help possible from young people in Faith Formation! With enough people, the job can be completed in about 1 hour.

THANK YOU: To all who attended the 4:15pm mass last Sat. Dec. 11th and the 10:15am mass Sunday Dec. 12th. Thank You to Fr. Adrian who through his homily, gives us strength and hope as we continue to deal with the pandemic. To Linda who handled the opening announcements for 4:15 mass & Ginny at 10:15 am Sun. To our Pianist Jill on Sat. & Sun. Cantor Linda on Sat. We thank Lector Tim on Sat & Jerold on Sun.  Eucharistic Ministers  Maggie, Karen & Mary – Sat;  Paul, Mooreen & Dave on Sun. Ushers Tim, Kevin & Doris Sat; Ginny & Steve on Sun. Sacristans Mary – Sat,  Joanne & Ginny – Sun. Thank you to all who took communion to parishioners unable to attend mass last weekend.

THANK YOU!!! To all who attended the Silent Auction sponsored by the Men’s Club. Money raised from this event make it possible for families in our parish and at COS to enjoy a very Merry Christmas!

THANK YOU to Members of the Men’s Club who sponsor this event each year. You bring life to our motto of being The Good Samaritan on the banks of the Mississippi!

WE ARE A VOLUNTEER PARISH!
