Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8
BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS: As we continue to return to pre-COVID “normalcy” we would like to again offer blood pressure checks once a month. As in the past, blood pressure will be checked after Masses on the third weekend of the month. If you are trained and qualified to check blood pressures, and would be willing to offer this service to our parishioners, please contact Mary at or contact the parish office at 651-224-9793. The parish has all the equipment needed to offer this service.
SUPPORT GROUPS: Dealing with the sickness and death of family members and friends can be daunting. We have received requests to begin a support group to help loved ones deal with their own emotions while taking care of or dealing with the sickness or death in their lives. If you would like to see the opportunity of grief support in our parish, please call the parish office at 651-224-9793.
STRAWBERRIES: In just 1 ½ weeks, we will begin cleaning strawberries! Keep Wednesday, August 23 – Sunday, September 3 open! Our parish has again been asked to clean strawberries for the Strawberry & Cream booth at the Minnesota State Fair! We begin cleaning each day at about 8:00 AM and are usually finished about noon. Much depends on the weather and crowd size at the fair. Many of our volunteers look forward to this project. They enjoy being together and socializing with fellow parishioners. If you have never taken part in this opportunity, reserve at least one day on your calendar and see if you too might find the experience enjoyable!!
SCHOOL CLEANING: On Wednesday, August 2, a group of parishioners cleaned out unneeded chairs, tables, wood and “junk” that had accumulated in the school building over the years. Some volunteers, who attended St. Matthew School years ago, recognized some of the articles being removed. Chairs, tables, gym equipment that were still useful were moved to other areas of the complex. We thank Shelley, Kathy, Becky, Dave, Tony, Tom, Al, Mary and Phil who spent hours cleaning out the school!
NIGHT OUT: Thank you to Ellen, Kathy, members of the Rosary Society, Men’s Club, Faith Formation and Parish Council who organized St. Matthew’s participation in National Night Out. Everyone enjoyed hot dogs, desserts and lemonade and children enjoyed playing and decorating the street with chalk drawings!
