Volunteer Opportunities and Parish Needs for the week of 8-28-2022

Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”  Isaiah 6:8

STRAWBERRY CLEANING:  This past Wed.,  Aug. 24th, we began cleaning strawberries for a booth at the State Fair. Cleaning begins at 8am, each day through Sun. Sept. 4th. The owners expect to have twice the number of berries as they did last year. Come as often as you are able. Whether 1 day or the entire 12 days! The socialization is great and makes the time fly by, while earning money for our parish! Workers are also welcomed to take home any berries that do not meet the standards of the booth! We look forward to seeing you any morning(s) at 8am!

GREETERS: St. Matthew parish seeks additional “Greeters” for Sun. 10:15am mass. We welcome People who are able  to extend a warm welcome to those arriving for Mass. Your friendly smile and enthusiasm for the Church of St. Matthew are all that is needed. We thank Josiah who has been our Sunday mass greeter!   To volunteer contact: , or or the parish office.

THANK YOU

GARDENING: Thank you to Mary, our volunteer gardener! After weeding and cleaning the garden in front of the church 2 weeks ago, last Sat. she spent hours doing the same to the garden in front of the Parish Center.  This past week she worked on the garden on the Humboldt side of the school. We also want to thank Chris! For many years Chris has taken care of the gardens on the church property. Planting in the spring, watering, weeding and all that needs to be done to prepare the gardens for winter. We are very fortunate to have these two fine gardeners watching over our parish gardens. We appreciate all their hard work which has made our property look beautiful!!

THANK YOU: To the 89 worshippers who attended the Sat. 4:15pm mass and the 78 who attended the Sunday mass. To Jeanne who did the announcements on Saturday and to Shelly who did them on Sunday. To Lector Anthony on Sat & Becky on Sunday. Eucharistic Ministers Karen, Jeanne, Kathy & Tim on Sat and to Paul, Florida & Joe on Sunday. Pianist Bryan with Cantor Andy on Sat and Pianist Jill with Cantor Shelly on Sun. To Jim, Pat & Karen who carried up gifts at the Offertory. Ushers Tim & Tom on Sat & Steve & Ann on  Sun. Thank you to Gail, Tom, Tim, Kathy, Joanne & Joe who took communion to those unable to attend mass this weekend.

WE ARE A VOLUNTEER PARISH!
