KAREN THOMPSON is a life-long member of St. Matthew Parish. For 40+ years she has been involved in numerous volunteer positions within our parish community. She has served on the St. Matthew Parish Council, holding various offices. She is a Parish Trustee where she works and reviews contracts with any renters of parish facilities. She serves on the Finance Council and is a liaison with Loaves and Fishes and West Side Summit School. Probably her most visible volunteer position has been that of chairing our Parish Festival. This is how Karen describes that experience:
“I have enjoyed chairing our festival over the years. I did it several times in the 80’s early 90’s and for the past few years. It is a great opportunityto get to know other people in the community of St. Matthew and learn new skills. It takes more than one person to run an event. We are fortunate to have very dedicated volunteers who willingly return to work at the festival. They become experts at what they do, and they will tell you that they have learned a lot on how to organize their booth, set up an appealing display and most of all have had fun in the process of doing it.”
The job as chair is to plan an agenda, chair the meetings to make sure that we are covering all the details, and be present the entire weekend to have a successful event. I am willing to mentor a person or persons who want to be the chair or co-chairs. You can call me at 651-245-0535 or contact Mary Leibl at if you would like to consider serving in this capacity. We can discuss the time it takes and other questions you may have. I am willing to share all the knowledge I have in order to continue making our festival a success.
