New: Weekly Community Chef Table Demos!

The West Side Famers Market is looking for West Siders to share one of their favorite recipes with their neighbors by doing a cooking demonstration as a Community Chef at a Saturday market this summer. We are looking for people who love to cook and have a desire to share their favorite recipes and foods with neighbors. You don’t have to be a professional chef!

The farmers market will provide a $25 stipend to help cover the cost of ingredients. We will also have basic kitchen tools and a burner for you to use during the demonstration (if you have special knives or tools that you will need, please plan to bring them with you!).

The Goals of “Community Chef” at WSFM are to:

  • Support and build the capacity our neighbors to the ease and use of healthy, locally produced foods in all of our daily diets by sharing recipes, food preparation techniques etc.
  • Celebrate and promote the foods and cooking of the diverse cultural groups that live, work and play on the West Side
  • Connect local businesses with the WSFM and its vendors
  • Promote the WSFM as a lively, welcoming gathering place for West Siders to shop and meet up with friends and neighbors

You can sign up to be a Community Chef using the 2018 Community Chefs sign-up form (available in the back of church or at the parish center). Do a food testing or cooking demonstration this summer at the West Side Farmers Market. If you want to chat, or you have any questions about being a “Community Chef”, contact either Jessy or Laurie at .
